HOCHTIEF has agreed to acquire Autmatec, a German specialist in transmission line infrastructure, marking another step in the company’s strategy to expand its presence in markets driven by long-term investment trends. The transaction, announced by TradeArabia News Service, targets the energy sector and grid modernization. Autmatec serves major transmission and distribution network operators, delivering capabilities that HOCHTIEF wants to integrate into its existing portfolio.
Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Walldorf, the firm offers end-to-end services across the overhead transmission line value chain. Autmatec generated approximately €50 million in revenue in 2026 and employs around 80 highly skilled specialists. This acquisition gives HOCHTIEF immediate access to critical capabilities, customer relationships, and certifications in one of Europe’s fastest-growing infrastructure markets.
The deal significantly strengthens HOCHTIEF’s position in Germany’s transmission grid market. Investment is accelerating there to support electrification, renewable energy integration, and energy security. Europe’s grid operators are planning substantial long-term programs, creating sustained demand for specialist transmission infrastructure expertise. HOCHTIEF Infrastructure CEO Peter Hingott noted that Autmatec brings specialist expertise, strong customer relationships, and a highly skilled workforce.
Hingott added that combining Autmatec’s transmission line capabilities with HOCHTIEF’s engineering excellence, scale, and delivery expertise allows the company to support customers as they expand and modernise critical energy infrastructure across Germany and Europe. Autmatec’s existing leadership team will continue to lead the business, supporting its next phase of growth as part of the HOCHTIEF Group. The firm adds transmission line construction expertise to HOCHTIEF’s existing engineering and civil works.
This move comes as the industry grapples with the need to update aging infrastructure across the continent.
